Beside Kangaroo’s other major source’s of road kill in Australia are cattle and horse’s. Wild Pig’s, Goats and many species of birds, in particular the pink and grey Galah would be the most common of the birds to fall to road kill.
You will also see the occasional wombat.
Domestic animals also make up the road kill toll with cat’s and dog’s being the most common but these tend to occur in the towns and cities so should be referred to as Street Kill rather than the tradional Road Kill IMO

Todays road kill actually suprised me as I saw a dead fox on the side of the road and that is rather unusual.

I also saw what looked like a Joey Kangaroo but then when I thought about it, it was more than likely a Bilby, being as small as it was. I also thought it may have been a Possum but on the return trip, I can vouch for the fact that it was not a Possum.

I am not sure if Bilby’s exist in CQ but a Google search in the morning will answer that question for me and I will then be able to post more positive information.

Yesterday while travelling between Clermont and Capella a cat (probably feral) appeared at the side of the road and was stalking a snake.

I dont know if the snake was alive but I managed to run over before realising what was happening and the cat itself darted back into the safety of the bush when it saw the truck heading down the highway.
