Here in Emerald we are already about 250mm over out average annual rainfall of around 500mm.

Rain began falling around midnight last night and so far the official reading is about 50mm and from the looks of the weather maps, this rain is set to continue at the rate of around 5mm per hour for at least another 4 or 5 hours.

Rain and thunderstorms are predicted for the remainder of the weeks so it will be a wet finish to the year as well as a wet beginning for 2009.

I took a drive around town about 7am and went via work only to find that local flooding prevented me from actually getting into the depot.
Industrial Drive is under water and trafficable only by 4WD so I did not attempt to go any further than the edge of the water which would be up to 300mm deep in places.

We had the last rain at about 1pm today but the weather radar shows there is a lot more on the way.
It could go to the north of Emerald though this time so just have to wait and see what happens tonight.

Since the last comment we did not get any further rain in Emerald for the year.

However, we did get a wet start with rain starting to fall around 7.30pm on the 1st and up to now we have recorded a total of 42mm
